Abstract

Background. The article is dedicated to an urgent problem of diagnostics and treatment of patients with obstructive jaundice of different genesis. In recent years, medical scientists have begun applying research methods of biological objects, one of which is joulemetry. As of today, this method has not yet been used to study electrochemical properties of bile. The research objective is to study the electrochemical properties of bile of patients with obstructive jaundice using joulemetry.
Materials and methods. An electrochemical study of bile was carried out among 64 patients with obstructive jaundice of various etiology. For this purpose, dilution series of bile were prepared in distilled water, the obtained dilutions were injected into a liquid flow sensor connected to a joulemetric device, and then the parameters
of the current were recorded.
Results. The authors have obtained reliable data on the extent of lithogenicity of bile in patients with obstructive jaundice: at cholelithiasis - a high rate of operation current (average 0,94 ± 0,2 mJ), while at other pathologies the current was low (on average 0,23 ± 0,13 mJ).
Conclusions. Evaluation of lithogenicity of bile helps to clarify the cause of jaundice and optimize the management of patients.
